Spillocuscus rufoniger

Spillocuscus rufoniger (black spotted cuscus) is one of Indonesia's biggest cuscus. Her hair is thick, smooth and reddish colored. Female body aize larger than the males. Females have a layer of hair shaped black saddle on his back and the male has a leopard pattern or spots. This cuscus has a rounded head with a short muzzle and ears are covered with hair that is virtually. His eyes were large and dark adapted will to adjust to a nocturnal lifestyle. Curved front paws with sharp points to climb. its tall can hook to hold and ends hairless.

Body size from head to body length of about 70 cm and about 50 cm tall. Average weight of adult possum is between 6-7 kg.

This cuscus habitat is dense tropical forest spread over the northern part of the island of Papua.

This cuscus is included in the group of animal are omnivores and eat fruit, nuts and maybe some small animals. The threat to these animals from poaching and habitat destruction.

Kandelia candel

Kandelia candel is one of a rare species of mangrove in Indonesia. Distribution only on the east coast of Sumatra and Kalimantan in part. Mangrove thrives in tropical areas near the equator. However, it can also be grown in sub-tropical regions.

Kandelia candel form of shrubs or small trees up to 7 meters tall with a thicker stem. Generally rootless breath. Bark grayish to reddish-brown, smooth surface and have lenticels.  Leaf  edges into contract. The unit and its location is simple and cross, elliptical-shaped elongated round. Rounded leaf tip up slightly tapered. Branch flower cluster two, have 4 and sometimes nine white flowers, 1.5-2 cm in length . Calyx tubular leaf petals exceeding ovary and has a curved parallel labels when the flowers are in full bloom. Corolla length of about 14 mm. Numorous stamens and green filamen. Oval shaped fruit, 1.5 - 2 cm long. Hipokotil cylindrical length 15-40 cm.

The mangrove plants generally live in coastal forests of Southeast Asia, which ia about 74 species, and only about 11 species living in the Carribean, from this number around 51 % or 38 species live in Indonesia.

It is estimated there are about 89 species of mangrove growing in the world, consisting of 31 genera and 32 families. Ministry of Environment said the number does not include follow-species that live together in mangrove area, which is still doubtful whether these plants including mngroves or not. For example, family Rhizophoraceae had 17 genera and about 70 spsecies, but only 4 genera and 17 species known really as mangroves. Combretaceae family similarly, only 3 generations and 5 species known as the mangrove.

Mangrove has a variety of functions. Physical function is to maintain the condition of the beach to remain stable, protecting coastal cliffs and river banks, prevent erosion and seawater intrusion, as well as trap contaminants. Biological funtions of mangrove habitat is as fish, shrimp, and crabs to live and find food, as a source of diversity of aquatic and non-aquatic biota such as birds, snakes, monkeys, bats and orchids, as well as sources of germplasm. The economic functions of mangroves as a source of fuel (wood, charcoal), building materials (beams, boards), as well as textiles, food, and medicine.
