Siau scops-owl (Otus siaoensis)

The only information that explains the existence of this type in the specimen was collected while exploring the island of Siau, North Sulawesi, in 1866. Siau scops-owl is the only species of the Orus genus on that island. Previously considered as sub-species of Otus magicus, until 1988, it was established as a separate species. Included in the Strigidae, this species is about 17 cm. This nocturnal invertebrate predator has relatively large heads and feet. The whole body is domininated by brown feathers. There is a knob on the head feathers like ears extending from the eyebrow. Because of its small habitat with an estimated rate of deforestation is high on the islands of Siau, the species gain status of Critical. Comprehensive survey is needed to complete the information on the ecology and its population.

Flores hawk-eagle (Nisaetus floris)

Through genetic, morphology and distribution pattern approaches, taxonomic experts set the eagle closely related to Nisaetus cirrhatus as a separate species in 2004. Measures approximately 71-82 cm, this eagle was recorded as a resident species found only in northern Nusa Tenggara region and spread over Rinjani National Park Lombok, Sumbawa and Flores, as well as small island of Satonda and Rinca. The species is found in lowland forests at the height of 1.000 m above the sea  level. The trend decline in the population is closely related to the depreciation Flores forest cover in the area of Nusa Tenggara as well as the capture and illegal trade. The World Conservation Union (IUCN) set Flores hawk-eagle as endangered species with Critically Endangered status.

Elegant sunbird (Aethopyga duyvenbodel)

Elegant sunbird can only be found on the island of Sangihe North Sulawesi with separately scattered populations. Shrinking of the primary and secondary forest causes IUCN put the status of Endangered for the species. Density is very low, except in Sahendaruman Mountain location. Measure about 12 cm, like most, this sunbird has bright colors. The male has purple-red feathers covering the ears and back of the collar, metallic green and blue crown, and yellowish olive back. The female has paler colors, in addition to the natural forest, this species can be found in habitats that have been modified as mixed plantations, coconut plantations as well as primary forest edge at an altitude of to 1.000 m above the sea level.

Invisible rail (Habroptila wallacii)

Only found on the island of Halmahera, North Maluku, the species has a tiny population and continues to decline. IUCN set the status as Vulnerable due to its fragmented habitat. Measures about 40 cm, this rail can not fly. The whole body was dominated by dark gray hair, slightly brownish on the wings, lower back and tail. The foot, circular eyes and forehead shield has a bright red color. This type inhabits a remote and difficult to acces saga swamp forest, at the edge of swamp foothills and the peninsula that just inti the swamp. Based on the loss of its habitat due to commercial sago harvesting, the invisible rail population is expected to continue to decline as well as a result of predators and hunting activities.
