Ir. H. Joko Widodo Familiarly called by name Jokowi (born in Surakarta, Central Java, on June 21, 1961) is the 7th President of Indonesia who took office since October 20, 2014. He was elected along with Vice President Jusuf Kalla in the 2014 Presidential Election Jokowi served as Governor of Jakarta since October 15,2012 until October 16, 2014, and the Mayor of Surakarta (Solo) since July 28, 2005 until October 1, 2012. Began his political career by becoming a Mayor of Surakarta in 2005. His name became known after successful considered changing the face of Surakarta city into a city of tourism, culture, and batik. On September 20, 2012, Jokowi managed to win the Direct Elections of District Head (Pilkada) of Jakarta in 2012, and his victory is considered reflects popular support for a leader of the "new" and 'clean". Childhood and Family Joko Widodo was born to Noto Mihardjo and Sudjiatmi and is the eldest of four siblings. He has three younger sisters named Lit Sriyantini, Ida Yati and Titik Relawati. His father was from Karanganyar, while grandparents came from a village in Boyolali. On December 24, 1986, Jokowi married with Iriana in Solo, and has 3 children named Kaesang Pangarep, Kahiyang Ayu, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. His education begins from SD Negeri (Public Elementary School) 111 Tirtoyoso known as a school for the middle to lower. With experienced of hardship, he was forced to sell and as porters to seek his own pocket money and school needs. When the other children to school by bicycle, he chose to keep walking. Inheriting the trade of carpentry from his father, he began working as a sawyer at the age of 12. Little Jokowi has experienced three times home eviction. The three time eviction that happened in chilhood affects the way of thinking and his leadership in the future as became mayor of Surakarta should bring order of residents housing. After graduating from elementary school, then continued his education at SMP Negeri (Junior High School) 1 Surakarta the proceeded to SMA Negeri (Senior High School) 6 Surakarta. College and Entrepreneurship With academic abilities, he was admitted to the Departement of Forestry, Faculty of Forestry, University of Gajah Mada. This opportunity was exploited to study the structure of wood, utilization, and technology. He successfully completed his studies with a thesis that title "Study on Plywood Consumption in Final consumption in the Municipality of Surakarta". After graduating in 1985, he worked in the state-owned PT Kertas Kraft Aceh, and placed in Pinus Maerkusii Forest area in the Gayo highlands of Central Aceh. But he was not feel at home and return home to be with his wife who was seven months pregnant. He was determined to do business in the field of wood and working in his uncle's business under the name CV Rakabu, taken from the name of his first child. His business had debuted and also up and down due to orders which eventually deceived not paid. But in 1990 he bounced back with capital of Rp 30 million loan from his mother. This venture took him to meet someone of Germans, Mici Romaknan, who eventually gave him a call that popular until now, "Jokowi". With honesty and hard work, he gained the confidence and could get around Europe who opened his eyes. Good urban settings in Europe became his inspiration to be applied in Surakarta and inspired him to enter politics. He wants to implement a humane leadership and embody a friendly city for its inhabitants of Surakarta city. Political Career At direct elections of Mayor of Solo in 20015, Jokowi carried by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and the national Awakening Party (PKB) to run for mayor of Surakarta. He won the election with a percentage of 36,62% votes. Once elected, with various experiences in his youth, he developed a bad arrangement and facing rejection community to be disciplined of previously Solo. Under his leadership, Solo undergo changes and be un university studies at home and abroad. The ability of political communication of Jokowi was different from most other leaders of political communication styles of the period, then became a study and research of the post graduate students of University of Indonesia. Jokowi - Ahok officially inaugurated by the Minister of Home Affairs, Gamawan Fauzi, as a Governor and Vice Governor of Jakarta on October 15, 2012. Presidency After been elected as Governor of Jakarta, Jokowi popularity soared as a result of a good track record and earthy and pragmatic approach, as demonstrated through the program "blusukan" to check out the condition in the field directly. The Jokowi nomination was also expected boost the PDI-P in the legislative elections. On May 19, 2014, Jokowi announced that Jusuf Kalla will become a candidate for vice president. Announcement and declaration were simultanesously took place at the Gedung Joeang 45 in Menteng, Jakarta. The nomination was supported by a coalition of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Nasdem Party, the National Awakening Party, and Hanura. On the same day, Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla officially registered at the Election Commission. On July 22, 2014, the election commission announced and established that Jokowi - Jusuf Kalla as the winner of the presidential election in 2014 with 53,15% of votes. On October 20, 2014, Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla was sworn in as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia the term of office from 2014 to 2019. Drs. H. Muhammad Jusuf Kala More often written as Jusuf Kalla or JK (born in Watampone, Bone regency, South Sulawesi, May 15, 1942) is the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia who served since October 20, 2014. JK had served as Vice President in the period 2004-2019 and Chairman of Golkar Party in the same period. JK became presidential candidate along with Wiranto in the 2009 Presidential Election that was carried by Golkar and Hanura. On May 19, 2014, JK was officially nominated as the vice presidential candidate in a declaration acompanying Joko Widodo, in Gedung Joeang '45, Jakarta. The pair carried by five parties, namely the PDI-P, Nasdem Party, the National Awakening Party, Hanura, and PKP. Jusuf Kalla is the 2nd child of 17 siblings of Hadji Kalla and Athirah, a Bugis descent entrepreneurs who has business in the name of Kalla Group. Kalla's family business that includes several groups of companies in various industries. Jusuf Kalla married to Hj. Miad Mufidah Saad, and had one son and four daughters, as well as ten grandchildren. Jusuf Kalla had experience on youth and student organizations, among others, the Indonesian Islamic Students (PII) South Sulawesi branch from 1960 to 1964, chairman of the Islamic Students Association (HMI) Branch Makassar 1965-1966, Chairman of the Student Council of the University of Hasanuddin (UNHAS) 1965-1966, and Chairman of the Presidium of the Indonesian Student Action Union (US) in 1967-1969. Before entering politics, Jusuf Kalla has served as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of South Sulawesi. Up to now, he is still the Chairman of Alumni Association at the University of Hasanuddin, after deliberation re-elected in September 2006. Political Career Jusuf Kalla served as a minister in the administration of Abdurrahman Wahid (the 4th President of Indonesia), but was dismissed on charges of collution involved. Jusuf Kalla re-appointed as Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare under Megawati Soekarnoputri (the 5th President of Indonesia) Jusuf Kalla later resigned as minister forward as a candidate for vice president, accompanied the presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. With the success of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as the 6th President, automatically Jusuf Kalla also won positions as the 10th Vice President of Indonesia. Together with Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the two became the President and Vice President who wasfirst elected directly by the people. Presidential Election 2014 Jusuf Kalla asked by presidential candidates, Joko Widodo, in the event of the Presidential Election 2014. in the draw, the pair got the number two and has a popular tagline, "Two Fingers Greetings". By the Election Commission, dated July 22, 2014, Jokowi-JK won the election. JK inaugurated as vice president on October 20, 2014. Along with the inauguration, he was the first vice president elected for two terms through general elections.
